New licence period - contract extended

Heidelberg University's OriginPro license has been successfully extended. The current license period ends on 31.03.2027. Please follow the steps below to renew your HomeUse licence: 1. Start Origin. Select "Help: Activate license". 2. Click on the “License” button. 3. The product key is already entered in the “Activate license” dialogue. Click on "Activate". 4. Once the activation process is complete, select “Help: About Origin” to check whether the updated expiry date of the software key is correct. If you are using a network license, you do not need to do anything else. We are currently taking care of the necessary steps to update the license.

Data analysis and the creation of graphical representations

OriginPro a software for data analysis and graphical representation, designed specifically for applications in science, technology and engineering. In addition to its user-friendly interface, advanced users are able to customize analysis and graphing operations with the help of designs, templates, user-defined reports and programming tools.

Target group

The software can be used or purchased by members of the following faculties (details under "Access and requirements"):

  • Faculty of Chemistry and Earth Sciences
  • Faculty of Biosciences
  • Faculty of Engineering
  • Faculty of Physics and Astronomy
  • Faculty of Medicine Heidelberg
  • Faculty of Medicine Mannheim

According to the developer, OriginPro offers the following functionalities:

Access and requirements

All students of the faculties mentioned above can request a license via the linked web form. Please note: With a student license, OriginPro may only be installed on a PC/laptop that is owned and in the possession of the student. Installation on a PC located at a University institution is not permitted. The license allows you to install the software on 1 (one) PC/laptop. If you want to change the computer on which it is installed, you must first deactivate the installation on the old PC.

All employees of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, the Institute of Organic Chemistry and the Institute of Physical Chemistry can use OriginPro. The software can be downloaded from the website of the developers, OriginLab, and activated with the provided key. To be able to access the download, you will need to log in with a customer account or create one. Origin provides video tutorials for installation and various licensing procedures.

Computers of employees are activated with the University network via the license server. Employees of authorized institutes can request a home-use license via the web form linked above.

Employees who are covered by OriginPro licenses (see list of faculties under "Target group") and who do not belong to one of the chemical institutes can order licenses using the linked order form. Please inform the IT representative of your institute about the order in advance.
